I know this topic has been visited in conversations through telephone lines, email groups and around kitchen tables everywhere:: What do I do with my preschoolers while I’m schooling my other children?
And while different families have different dynamics (obviously), hopefully we can glean good ideas from each other. Please leave your ideas in the comments section or next week my 4 year old may just drive me bananas!
Here’s some links to ideas that others have used:

Jolanthe at Homeschool Creations has a whole category of “Preschool Corner” posts
Walking by the Way has a section on Preschool too! Check out these activities for younger ones.
Okay…I’ve got more to share, but I’m out of time. Your turn to share some ideas. Leave a comment; I’m sure we’ll all appreciate it.
Here are some things that have worked for me:
* Have the older ones do the school that necessitates my help when the younger ones nap in the afternoon.
* Bring out toys/activities that are not out all the time for preschoolers to use during older school time.
* School older ones while preschoolers watch a learning movie.
* Have one child in charge of playing with the younger ones while I school the other ones.
* One idea that looks neat that I haven’t tried is called Workboxes:

All admonitions against using the tv as a babysitter aside…Barney! If you want to use the bathroom in peace, or take a shower, Barney is your friend!
In moderation, of course.
My 4 year old begs to do “school” with the others. He feels so big because this year I let him start the Primer of Math U See. I figured even if we did 1/2 of it, we’d have a jump start on next year. He loves to watch the Math Guy videos, and he really feels as if he’s a part of school along with his older siblings. He has learned a lot and is already on lesson 8! When you start early, there is no pressure to finish the book.
Cyndy,
Workboxes are neat. I made up some a few years ago (before they were called workboxes). I need to switch them around to give him something new to work with.
Thanks for your good ideas.
We are a happy family!
Good idea Marti. Trenton does love doing ‘school’ with the girls.
